COMMISSIONING COMPLETE. LEADERS READY (Post 2 of 4)
On 16 May 2025, the Georgetown University Army ROTC Hoya Battalion proudly commissioned the newest Second Lieutenants into the United States Army.
These cadets — representing Georgetown University, George Washington University, Catholic University of America, American University, and The Institute of World Politics — have met the highest standards of academic excellence, physical fitness, and leadership development.
They have chosen a path of selfless service, prepared to lead with discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the mission and their Soldiers.
The Army gains not only officers — it gains leaders of character who will stand ready to defend our Nation and lead from the front.
Congratulations, Lieutenants. Lead well. Your time is now.

The Hoya Battalion proudly recognized Mr. Darryl E. Christmon — Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Georgetown University’s Main Campus — for nearly 30 years of unwavering support to our Cadets and Cadre.
As Vice President of Operations and COO, Mr. Christmon has been a steadfast advocate for military leadership development at Georgetown, helping create an environment where future Army leaders can thrive. His behind-the-scenes dedication has left a lasting impact on generations of Hoya Cadets.
Army fun fact: The Army equivalent of Mr. Christmon’s role would be the Deputy Commanding General of Operations (DCG-O).
In appreciation of his decades-long commitment, the Hoya Battalion presented Mr. Christmon with a handcrafted wooden flag bearing our Battalion crest — a small token of our immense gratitude.
Thank you, Mr. Christmon, for your enduring partnership, leadership, and loyalty to the Hoya Battalion and the U.S. Army ROTC mission. Hoya Saxa General!
