Stella is a warrior. After surviving open-heart surgery and significant health setbacks, she began losing her hair to Alopecia. For Stella, this piece is about no longer feeling like a visible reminder of everything she has suffered.
Her Journey:
I had open heart surgery, and although it saved my life, it also changed the way I see myself every day. The surgery left a scar down my chest that I carry with me constantly.
Not long after that, I began experiencing hair loss from alopecia. Losing my hair has been one of the hardest parts of my journey because it affected something deeply connected to how I recognized myself. Watching it disappear made me feel like I was losing another part of who I was after already going through so much.
Then I faced another serious setback when infection caused me to lose my teeth. That loss affected my confidence even more. It made simple things like smiling or being around people feel different.
A wig would mean so much more to me than just hair. I am not asking because of vanity—I am asking because I know how much it would help emotionally. A piece would give me a sense of dignity, comfort, and confidence while I continue healing. It would allow me to walk into a room without immediately feeling exposed by one more visible reminder of everything I have been through.
