Did you know that through DC Health link, if you are a DC Childcare Employee you have access to affordable healthcare? Through HealthCare4ChildCare (HC4CC), any employee who lives within Washington, DC itself receives FREE health insurance premiums. If an employee lives outside of DC, they are still eligible and receive either free or lower cost premiums. This is such a big deal for so many of our staff, and we're so excited to be partnering with DC Health Link for this initiative!

Happy Labor Day! Today is all about appreciating the hardest working people in our lives - and not just those in our family, but people you see and interact with every day. We appreciate the hard work and dedication each of our staff gives to us every day, and hopefully you do, too!

All of our centers will be closed today to observe the holiday. We hope to see everyone tomorrow!

Today is International Women's Equality Day! It might seem like it, but it hasn't been that long since women earned the right to vote. In fact, your mother or grandmother may not have even been born in a world where she could have her own bank account!

It's not just a thing of the past, either. Did you know that Black women make significantly less than a White man? It's true - right here in Washington, DC, a Black woman makes just .51 cents for every dollar a White man makes, according to an analysis by the National Women's Law Center. Over her lifetime, she could lose nearly $2 million to wage inequalities. That's a lot of money!

What can you do? Support the bill that forces employers to put their salary range in the job description. Talk about your wages with coworkers, so you know what others are being paid. Support the women around you, and ensure they get the opportunities they truly deserve.

Between August 25th and August 28th, all three of our childcare centers will have half days for our yearly mandatory training for staff! This means we will be closing at noon. We'll be back to regular hours after the 28th.
