What a joy to bring a live writing workshop to the historic Howard Theatre for Spur Local’s Give Gala. ✨

Our students, Gustavo, Katie, Zoey, Loreal and Emma did an incredible job leading an interactive storytelling experience with guests in the audience. Together, they created two characters: Marvin, the fluffy one-eyed panda unicorn, and Chuck, the tiny telepathic super-speedy human. 🐼🦄⚡ We cannot wait to see where their story goes next.

Thank you to everyone at the gala who joined in on the fun and helped bring this story to life. Stay tuned for more writing adventures from 826DC. 💫

Huge shoutout to ED, Robyn for facilitating, our School Residency Manager, Sara for moderating, and Kendall for creating live illustrations during the workshop.

Happy National Library Week! 📚

Did you know 19 of our student anthologies are officially part of the collection at the Library of Congress?!

Yes, you read that right. The words of 826DC students are archived alongside some of the most important works in history.

We’re honored to help these amplify young voices in DC. 💫
