"My goal was that we
would show that we, as the youth, understand the violence has got to
stop, and the way to combat that is not with violence," one of the
organizers told The Willits News. "You can't fight fire with fire, but
as a community, we can try to break the chain of continual violence."

D.C. schools, teachers union reach tentative deal D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee and the Washington Teachers' Union have reached tentative agreement on a new contract, ending more than two years of closely watched and often-rancorous negotiations, union and District officials said Tuesday.

Government funds to support reducing violence in high schools through mentoring, alternative learning strategies, employment and case management.
