Introducing Professor Ross!
Charles Ross is a WCL alumni and the Practitioner-in-Residence in the Community Economic and Equity Development Clinic, a clinic representing businesses, workers’ cooperatives, housing cooperatives, and nonprofit organizations in Washington D.C. and Maryland. Professor Ross began teaching at WCL in 2022 and his areas of expertise include housing law, child welfare law, and small business law. Professor Ross is also a community lawyer who formed his law firm, Charles Ross Law, PLLC, in March 2022.
Professor Ross’ biggest inspiration is his grandmother, who introduced him to his love of books and learning: she taught him to “never limit yourself or allow others to place limitations upon you.” Professor Ross loves the WCL community because he is impressed and inspired by the students who organize and strategize to fight injustice and inequality in the world. Professor Ross finds mentorship the most rewarding part of his role in clinic, as he loves being a resource to his students, while learning from them through their growth and success.
Fun Facts about Professor Ross: he enjoys painting and spending time with his wife, two dogs and cat, he loves watching reality TV, and he plays pick-up basketball most weekends! Professor Ross also recommends attending the Malcolm X Park’s Sunday night drum circle, as the energy is contagious.
