First UCC DC

In honor of Juneteenth, this month's second Sunday special offering (to which you can donate throughout the month) will support Juneteenth for the City, a free block party in Anacostia hosted by Bread for the City. Every neighbor who attends the celebration will receive a free meal provided by local Black-owned food vendors and a bag of produce to go. Last year, over 600 meals were distributed. Our sponsorship will feed families, support local businesses, and create a joyful celebration centered on Black history, culture, economic empowerment, and freedom. Thanks to Rev. Mahogany Thomas of Bread for the City for sharing a Moment for Justice with us in worship last Sunday to share more about this celebration of liberation!

Happy Election Day, DC! Get out there and VOTE!

It’s Election Day, DC! Pro tips for today:

1. Election Day Vote Centers are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM today. You may cast your ballot at any center. Dropboxes are also open until 8:00 PM, and if you are not yet registered to vote, you can register to vote at the polls today.

2. National Guard soldiers and law enforcement are required to stay at least 50 feet away from polling locations and dropboxes. If you witness them near polling locations, film or photograph them and then call 866-OUR-VOTE.

3. Field Volunteers with the DC Election Protection Coalition are at polling sites across the District today to document and help correct any election interference. Look for them in “866-OUR-VOTE” shirts and badges if you are at your polling site and need support.

4. If you experience interference with voting today, call the Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE for assistance.

The Trump regime wants to intimidate voters all over the country and especially here in DC away from the polls. Exercising our power is part of how we protect our power. No matter how you like to cast your ballot, get out today and vote!
