John R. Francis Education Campus
John R. Francis is a PK-8 public school in the District of Columbia.
In honor of Women’s History Month, students in Ms. Montana's Art Class learned about influential women from history.
Using a portrait that showed only half of the woman’s face, students carefully drew the missing half, focusing on facial features, proportions, and shading to create a realistic portrait.
After completing their artwork, students filled out a pennant with key facts about the woman they studied.
A creative way to combine art, observation skills, and learning about inspiring women who made an impact in history.

Students vs Staff — who’s taking the win?
Sing That Word – Part 2 🎤
One of the best parts of this activity was seeing students who don’t usually stand up in front of others take a chance. Their classmates supported them the whole way—singing with them, clapping, and giving high-fives.
It’s the fun and encouraging energy that helps students feel loved, safe, and like they truly belong.
Shout out and thank you to the teachers who joined in the fun—some on camera and some behind the scenes.
