As a civil rights lawyer I saw it clearly: no probable cause to approach, and a Fourth Amendment violation when she was seized.

This is why D.C. needs a mayor with a backbone and a background in constitutional law. Not someone making promises about fighting the federal government. Someone who actually knows how.

I’ve done it in court for 15 years. I know how to build the legal resources and national network to protect residents when the federal government oversteps.

UPDATE IN DEON KAY SHOOTING DEATH CASE: Brian Schwalb has filed appeal against Deon's mother. Just 30 days before his election. Ask yourself what message he is sending to voters? That he's going to use tax payer money any way that he sees fit regardless of whether it aligns with true Democratic values. Fighting a poor, Black mother isn't how DC voters want their tax money spent. After all, this same AG dropped his suit against the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers last year.
