Nare is on her way to Bulgaria. I waned to write a book in Western Armenian so that children in the diaspora have access to a variety of quality literature appropriate to their age. A little behind-the-scenes story:

I’m actually a pediatric ER doctor, not a traditional author. But I realized there are very few colorful children’s books in Western Armenian.
My aim is to create Armenian stories about everyday life and the wonders of nature, told in Armenian, that children can read, imagine, and enjoy. Through age- appropriate storytelling, I want to give children a space where the Armenian language is alive, vibrant, and full of magic.

Next Sunday, March 22, I’ll be doing a live reading and book signing at St. Mary Armenian Church in Washington DC.

Teaching Armenian to our children in today’s busy world is not easy. Between school, activities, and constant distractions, our language can quietly slip away—even when our hearts are in the right place.
