This mix showcases the arrival of traditional mozambican music to the national Radio Mozambique ( formerly Radio Clude de Mozambique ) after being banned by Portuguese colonizers since its inception. You'll hear radio drops, excerpts from president Samora Machel's free and independent Frelimo controlled Mozambique, as well as 1970s to 1990s acoustic/digital mbira (xylophone) and marrabenta on cassette tape, vinyl, and reel format.

Recorded in Barranquilla, Colombia - April 25, 2026
