Celebrating Military Children and Spring Break Adventures
April is recognized nationwide as the Month of the Military Child—a time dedicated to honoring the resilience, strength, and sacrifices of our military youth. At the heart of this celebration is the mission of the District of Columbia Family Readiness Youth and Child Program, which is rooted in supporting military families, children, and youth by fostering resilience, community engagement, and educational growth.
This past week, we proudly hosted a series of enriching spring break activities designed to reinforce these core values. Our young military members embarked on exciting trips to the Air and Space Museum, exploring the wonders of aviation and space exploration. They engaged in creative building activities at the Building of Engraving, honing their skills and fostering a sense of accomplishment. The Natural History Museum offered a journey through the natural world, inspiring curiosity and a deeper appreciation for our planet. To top it all off, our Fun Day with a Game Truck provided hours of camaraderie, laughter, and shared experiences—strengthening bonds within our military family.
These activities exemplify the program’s commitment to supporting the well-being and development of military children and youth. By providing educational, recreational, and social opportunities, we aim to build resilience and camaraderie among our young heroes. Additionally, these efforts strengthen family readiness and community ties, ensuring that our military families are supported and celebrated throughout their journey.
As we honor our military children this April, let us continue to foster environments where they can thrive, learn, and grow—because their resilience and spirit inspire us all.
Special thanks to Angelus Hunter for spare heading these events with Sylvia Lynch and the amazing volunteers!!!! We salute you 💕
