The Days of Tashreeq
Many may see them as mere holidays, but those with insight know them as days of remembrance.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The days of Tashreeq are days of eating, drinking, and the remembrance of Allah."
He ﷺ also said: "The Mufradun have surpassed others." They asked, "Who are the Mufradun, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "The men and women who remember Allah frequently."
The Reward: "And the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward." (Al-Ahzab: 35)
Do not let these be days of heedlessness... instead, let them be days of Takbir, Tahlil, and Tahmid.

The Day of Arafah is not an ordinary day,
but a day in which so many virtues gather that it becomes one of the greatest days of the year.
It is the day of completion and perfection,

the day on which Allah revealed His saying:
“Today I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion,”
and it is authentically reported that this verse was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ while he was standing in Arafah.

It is a day on which Allah boasts to the angels about the people of Arafah, and in which many are freed from the Fire, as mentioned in Sahih Muslim:
“There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah. He draws near, then He boasts about them to the angels.”

It is also a day that enrages Satan, due to the mercy, forgiveness, and return of hearts to Allah that take place in it — a meaning mentioned by scholars when explaining the virtues of this day.

As for fasting it for those not performing Hajj, it is a great door of virtue. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“I hope that Allah will expiate the sins of the year before it and the year after it.”

So fasting just one day of Arafah becomes a means of expiation for two years, by Allah’s permission.

Therefore, the Day of Arafah should not pass like any other day.
It should be welcomed with fasting, supplication, remembrance, repentance, and sincere humility before Allah.
