We're frustrated. Honestly, we're beyond frustrated.

The Cone/Parsons Ave colony didn't happen overnight. It's been growing for about five years. We got involved about a year ago after one of the neighbors reached out for help. They told us they had asked other organizations over the years, but no one ever came.

We did.

Like every rescue, though, we have more colonies than volunteers, more cats than fosters, and never enough money. We have to prioritize emergencies while trying not to let the other colonies fall even further behind.

This week, we reached out to the property owner where many of the cats are living and offered to help. No cost. No blame. Just let us trap the cats, get them fixed, and stop this from getting even worse.

Instead, we were told to stay off the property and got chewed out over the phone.

Meanwhile, there's a dead kitten under a car in the driveway.

That is heartbreaking because it didn't have to be this way.

Thankfully, the surrounding neighbors care. They've opened their properties to us, so we'll trap from there and help every cat we can reach.

But here's the part that weighs on us the most...

There are people in the rescue community who drive past this colony every single day. They know it's there. The neighbors have been asking for help for years. Yet somehow these cats continued multiplying until we're now looking at around 25 cats and four litters of kittens.

Rescue isn't easy. None of us can save every cat. We understand that better than anyone. But if we all keep driving by because someone else will deal with it, this is what happens.

And if you're asking a rescue for help, please understand that rescue isn't something we can do for you—it's something we do with you.

We need people to help watch traps. Help transport cats. Help fundraise. Donate toward surgeries. Talk to neighbors. Share our posts. Every successful colony is a community effort, not the work of one rescue or one volunteer.

If you'd like to help us finally get this colony under control, you can donate here:

Every dollar goes directly toward trapping, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, food, and medical care for this colony.

We're tired. We're angry. We're heartbroken.

But we're still going to show up. Because the cats didn't choose this. And they deserve someone who will.
