I want to address the recent post regarding an interview experience at Basil Ginger.
I take full responsibility for my communication during that interaction and for the way it was received. I recognize that my tone and approach may have come across as overly direct, and I understand how that could have made someone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. That is not acceptable, and I take ownership of that.
While I have built Basil Ginger with a high-energy and driven style, I acknowledge that this approach does not always translate appropriately—especially in interview settings. Creating a respectful and welcoming environment must always come first.
This feedback is being taken seriously. I am actively working to improve how I communicate, particularly with candidates and individuals entering new roles, where professionalism, clarity, and respect are critical.
For clarity, our training policy is consistent for all team members: tips begin after training is completed, and all tips are retained by staff. That said, I understand the concerns being raised, and I am listening.
Basil Ginger means a great deal to my family—along with the people who make it what it is. While my intention was never to create a negative experience, I recognize that intent does not outweigh impact. I take responsibility for that.
To our staff, guests, and community—thank you for your continued support and for holding us accountable. Moving forward, our focus will be less on responding publicly and more on doing the work—supporting our team and continuing to deliver the quality food and service our guests expect from Basil Ginger.
