If you’ve seen the cover of the newest issue of myWaukee, you’ve seen the smiling faces of winning coffee shop couple, Nate and Shanna Kempers.

Nate and Shanna started The Coffeesmith in 2017. The Coffeesmith is a charming, independent coffee shop on a mission to foster community, one deliciously handcrafted beverage at a time. Beyond crafting beautiful, Instagram-worthy artisan drinks, The Coffeesmith takes pride in recognizing that we're all "smiths" of something. Their cozy location offers a welcoming space for exploration and building community ties.

Congratulations Nate, Shanna, and all of The Coffeesmith’s wonderful staff. This win is a solid acknowledgment of just how much you mean to the Waukee community.

Congratulations to Echo Boland and Echo's Cookies! Echo’s secured an overwhelming win for myWaukee’s 2023 Best of Waukee contest in the Sweets & Treats category!

Echo’s Cookies & Cakes is a fun story. Before opening her bake shop, owner Echo Boland spent 23 years in the US military where she earned a business degree. What began as a fun side hobby around 2010 boomed into a fully-fledged business with locals clamoring to get their hands on Echo’s expertly crafted baked goods. From custom cookies and cakes to candies and cinnamon rolls, Echo’s has something for everyone. Walk in the door and expect to be greeted by colorful displays, delicious smells, and friendly service. They even feature a vending machine filled with Echo’s goodies, just outside the shop!

Be sure to catch Echo on the cover of the most recent issue of myWaukee!
