Front Runner Performance + Recovery

We’ve run the Firecracker 4 in Hales Corners every year since 2021, the year my son was born. We’ve only missed it once. That year we had bad weather, a 6-month-old at home, and my husband got in a car accident, all in the same week. So my son and I ran a different race the very next day instead, because we were getting it done one way or another.

Today my daughter screamed “yaaay!” the entire time she went fast in the stroller. My son begged to hop out and run the last stretch to the finish, just to hear the crowd cheer for him.

And then we ran into a family of our patients out there too.

This is exactly why I love this. My kids get to see us moving, see other people moving, hear strangers cheering total strangers on, and then eat all the post-race snacks they’ve earned. That’s the whole point.

I love this country and I love this community. Blessed. 🇺🇸🎆

250 years of America, and my family’s been part of it every step of the way. My dad was drafted. My brother-in-law served. I’ve had the honor of working with US Speedskating and representing this country on an international stage.

So today, barefoot squats under the flag felt like the only way to train.
