Wayne Fire Company #2

The Wayne Fire Department POL Company 2 is regretfully announcing the passing of one of our lifelong members, Doug McGilvary. Doug was the backbone of the department, serving as our long time secretary, resident handyman, and expert on all things from truck design to the different types of fire hydrants around the country. His contributions to this department and the township as a whole have been greatly appreciated and he will be missed by all.

[Brush Fire] On Friday, 11/1/2024, at approximately 1259 hours, Wayne Fire companies 2 and 5 were dispatched to a reported brush fire on the route 23 jug handle by Reloaderz. Upon arrival the fire was sized up to be 100x100' with a rapid rate of growth. Engine 2-1, 2-2, 5-1, 5-2, and Rescue 5 responded along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Due to the fire weather conditions, the fire quickly grew in size and a second alarm was requested for Wayne Company 3. The fire was contained to the size of half an acre.
