OCD usually begins in the teen or young adult years, but it can start in childhood. Symptoms usually begin over time and tend to vary in how serious they are throughout life. The types of obsessions and compulsions you have also can change over time. Symptoms generally get worse when you are under greater stress, including times of transition and change. OCD, usually thought to be a lifelong disorder, can have mild to moderate symptoms or be so severe and time-consuming that it becomes disabling.
There's a difference between being a perfectionist — someone who needs flawless results or performance — and having OCD. OCD thoughts aren't simply excessive worries about real issues in your life or liking to have things clean or arranged in a specific way.
If your obsessions and compulsions affect your quality of life, see your doctor or mental health professional. (Mayo Clinic ❤️)

Autism, ADHD, and sleep trouble often go hand in hand. It is estimated that 44% of adults with ADHD fight with insomnia, whereas in the general public 6-15% deal with it. Now if one looks at adults with ADHD and sensory processing issues (SPD) the percentage of this population who struggle with sleep issues is closer to 85%.
Sleep disorders are thought to affect about 30% of the general population. Compare that with about 80% of the Autistic population.
There is a large variety of possible causes of neurodivergent sleep struggles, including genetic mutations, co-occurrences, and direct characteristics of the neurodivergence.

Most people don’t struggle because they “have too many feelings.” They struggle because they don’t have the language for what they’re feeling.
That’s where the Feelings Wheel can help.
Instead of stopping at:
“I’m mad.”
“I’m stressed.”
“I’m fine.”
Try getting more specific.
Are you feeling hurt? Rejected? Discouraged? Overwhelmed? Insecure? Lonely?
Research shows that being able to identify emotions more clearly helps us regulate them more effectively and communicate with greater understanding and empathy in our relationships.
This week, try using the Feelings Wheel during a conversation with your partner. You might be surprised how much easier it becomes to explain what’s really going on underneath the surface.
Save this for later and send it to someone you want to feel more emotionally connected to 💙
