Following our May 17th meeting, Bay Area Service Teens gathered for a special reception to celebrate a year of service, growth, and impact.
We also expressed our sincere gratitude to Coordinator Lisa Holbrook, who is stepping down after five years of leadership.
Thank you for everything, and we wish you continued success in your next chapter.

Reflecting on three decades of service, Bay Area Service Teens—formerly Assisteens® of the Bay Area—exemplifies youth-driven philanthropy. Chartered in 1996 as an all-teen auxiliary of Bay Area Service League, our organization has evolved in name and scope, but never in commitment. As we became Bay Area Service Teens and our parent organization rebranded as Bay Area Service League, our legacy of impact endures.
Membership began for students in grades seven through twelve; as interest grew, eligibility shifted to high schoolers to strengthen our focus. For nearly 30 years, Bay Area Service Teens have been vital to the League’s philanthropic work, collaborating with adults and leading new initiatives.
Our journey is defined by hands-on service—supporting Ready for School, energizing fundraising events, creating Assist-A-Child cards, and volunteering at the Resale Shop. This spirit continues to set us apart.
Innovation and collaboration drive us. In 2021, along with our adult members, we launched Snack Attack Packs for students in need. Fundraising through events and community support—grants, donations—lets us expand our reach.
Our impact is broad and deeply felt. Teens have touched the lives of all ages, adapting as needs evolve. Retired programs—like Bingo at the Terrace and CAPS for Cancer—make way for new initiatives: Basic Kneads fights food insecurity; Birthday-in-a-Box brings joy to at-risk children; Cause for Paws aids animal welfare; Crafted with Care supports children in crisis; Notes for Folks Cards brighten seniors’ days; Project Snuggle gives comfort to children in shelters.
Membership remains strong, with teens demonstrating service and leadership through an elected board. Each year, members meet eligibility requirements and often volunteer with other local nonprofits, exemplifying compassion and responsibility.
Celebrating thirty years, we honor a legacy built on the vision and heart of young people determined to make a difference. Our commitment to service ensures a bright future for the next generation of leaders.
