💔 In August, we removed nine dogs from an animal cruelty case involving deplorable living conditions. Every one of these dogs came to us with significant medical needs, and their care has cost the Town of Webster nearly $20,000 in veterinary expenses.

After months of court proceedings, we were finally granted custody of the dogs last week. This means they can now receive the care they need, be spayed and neutered, and begin the next chapter of their lives.

The good news? Most of these dogs have already found something many shelter animals only dream about — foster families who fell in love and decided they never wanted to let them go.
One of those dogs is Cookie.

Cookie is a French Bulldog who survived neglect but continues to face a daily struggle. She suffers from severe Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a serious condition that affects her ability to breathe. Her condition is so severe that she often needs to be propped up while sleeping just to breathe comfortably.
Despite everything she has been through, Cookie remains sweet, loving, and full of life.

Her foster family has gone above and beyond to make sure she is safe, comfortable, and loved while waiting for her case to be resolved. They have stood by her every step of the way and will soon be making her a permanent member of their family.

Now Cookie needs one more thing: the surgery that could finally allow her to breathe normally.
The estimated cost of this life-changing procedure is between $3,075 and $6,439. Unfortunately, the town does not have the funds available to cover this expense.

Cookie's future family has created a GoFundMe to help make this surgery possible. If you are able, please consider donating. If you cannot donate, sharing her story could help her reach someone who can.

After everything Cookie has endured, we would love nothing more than to see her finally live the comfortable, happy life she deserves.

❤️ Every share matters.❤️ Every donation helps.❤️ Every breath matters.

🐾 KING – FOSTER TO ADOPT 👑🐾

Meet King, an 8-month-old male with a big heart, a goofy personality, and absolutely no idea how big he is. 😆

King is still very much a puppy in a large dog’s body. He loves attention, loves people, and is happiest when he’s right next to you soaking up affection. Whether he’s leaning into your lap, giving kisses, or making you laugh with his silly antics, King is guaranteed to keep life entertaining.

✔️ 8 months old
✔️ Male
✔️ Knows “sit”
✔️ Sweet, affectionate love bug
✔️ Fun, goofy personality
✔️ Eager to learn

King is still working on his manners and will need continued basic training. Because of his size and strength, he would do best in a home without small children. He isn’t intentionally rough—he simply doesn’t realize how big he is yet.

King has not been exposed to other dogs, so we are unsure how he would do in a multi-dog household. Any resident dogs will require a meet-and-greet prior to placement.

We feel King would thrive as either:
🐾 An only dog where he can soak up all the attention, or
🐾 With an experienced owner willing to continue his training and help him become the amazing adult dog he’s capable of being.

King is currently available as a foster-to-adopt placement until his veterinary care, including neuter and vaccines, is completed.

If you’re looking for a young dog with a huge personality, a loving heart, and lots of potential, King may be your perfect match.

📩 Contact us to learn more about King or schedule a meet-and-greet. [email protected]

Please share to help King find the home he deserves! ❤️🐾

🐾 MAX IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 🐾

Meet Max, a 10-year-old neutered male with a heart as big as his smile.

Max is the definition of a good boy. He is crate trained, potty trained, rides great in the car, and has the easygoing personality everyone hopes for in a companion. His favorite things in life are b***y scratches, hanging out with his people, and soaking up all the love he can get.

✔️ Neutered male
✔️ 10 years old
✔️ Good with other dogs
✔️ Crate trained
✔️ Potty trained
✔️ Loves car rides
✔️ Sweet and laid back

Max would do best in a home with older children. While he enjoys being part of the family, he can become jealous of younger children and would thrive in an environment where he doesn’t have to compete for attention.

This handsome senior still has plenty of love left to give and is looking for a family that will cherish him through his golden years. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is happy to be by your side, Max may be your perfect match.

👑 Meet Miss Gemma 👑

Gemma will be 6 years old in July and this purebred pittie girl is looking for a home of her own 🖤🐾

Gemma is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. She still has plenty of energy for walks, adventures, and pool parties, but she is just as happy curling up with her people after a long day. Honestly? If you ask me, this is the PERFECT age.

Her absolute favorite thing in the world is tug. Gemma LOVES her rope toys and tug balls and will happily bring them to you every day hoping you’ll play with her. During our recent pool day, she had the best time stomping around the kiddie pool and chomping at the water.

Gemma is a strong girl who doesn’t always realize her size, so older children would be best. We’ve also been working on improving her leash manners and she’s making progress.

• No small animals
• Dog selective — meet and greet required with any resident dogs
• Loves people, toys, and attention
• Middle-aged queen energy 👑

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with personality, snuggles, and a goofy playful side, Gemma may be your girl 🖤

☀️🐾 HEAT ADVISORY REMINDER 🐾☀️

With temperatures rising, please remember that dogs should NEVER be left unattended in vehicles — not even “for just a minute.”

Even on a mild or cloudy day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise to deadly levels within minutes. Cracking windows does little to prevent heat buildup. Heat stroke can happen FAST and can quickly become fatal.

Please also remember that dogs should not be left outside unattended for extended periods of time during extreme heat. Dogs can overheat much faster than people, especially:
🐶 brachycephalic breeds (bulldogs, pugs, etc.)🐶 elderly dogs
🐶 puppies
🐶 dogs with medical conditions
🐶 dogs with thick coats

If your dog is outside WITH you:
✔️ Provide constant access to fresh water
✔️ Provide shade at ALL times
✔️ Limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours

If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog’s paws.

Please help us keep pets safe during this heat wave

☀️🐾 POOL DAY AT WEBSTER ANIMAL SHELTER 🐾☀️

With the warm sunshine today, Bear, Gemma, and Zara (the other two chose not to participate) got to enjoy some much deserved kiddie pool time while soaking up the beautiful weather. 💦🐶

One thing that is incredibly important to me is making sure the dogs in my care are not just sitting in kennels all day. Every dog here gets individual time, attention, enrichment, playtime, and love while they wait for their forever homes. ❤️

🐾 Bear is still looking for his forever home
🐾 Gemma is still looking for her forever home
🐾 Zara is currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home

Each one of these dogs has their own personality, their own story, and so much love to give. Watching them relax, play, and just get to be dogs for a little while is one of the best parts of this job. 🥹

If you may be interested in Bear, Gemma, or Zara, please reach out to me directly or email [email protected] for more information

🐾 Meet Zara! 🐾

Zara is a 1–2-year-old female German Shepherd looking for a foster-to-adopt home ❤️

This beautiful girl is FULL of energy and more than ready to run straight into her new home and heart. She is super sweet, absolutely loves attention, and enjoys going for car rides. 🚗🐶

Zara already knows:✔️ Sit✔️ Paw

She’s a smart girl who just needs the right person willing to give her structure, love, and consistency.

Zara still needs to be spayed and vaccinated, so she will remain in foster status until that is completed. Because of this, the foster home must be local and able to bring her to her vet appointment in Southbridge when the time comes.

🐕 She seems excited and interested when seeing other dogs🐈 Cats are currently unknown

If you are interested in Zara, please email [email protected].

All other animals in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccine
