Wellesley Celebrations Committee organizes the annual Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend events.

The parade was great fun for all.

The balloon was inflated inside the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) garage (pictured here.)

The balloon was then carried outside by members of the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team. Unfortunately, as the parade units lined up, gusty winds pushed the balloon into a pointed area on the top of the Aleppo Clown Car causing it to pop.

Step back into history in Wellesley as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America’s Birth (1776–2026)!

Join us on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 12:15pm–3:00pm at Wellesley Town Hall for an afternoon of Revolutionary War history brought to life.

🕰️ Event Highlights:

🔴 12:15pm – Capture of Paul Revere
Witness the dramatic reenactment of Paul Revere’s capture at the Wellesley Duck Pond bridge, along with the escape of William Dawes and Dr. Samuel Prescott from the British Regulars.

📜 1:00pm – Drafting of the Declaration of Independence
Meet Paul Revere himself, learn about his famous ride, and experience the spirit of 1776 at Town Hall.

✉️ 2:00pm – Davenport Family Letters Presentation
Discover remarkable Revolutionary War letters from Continental Army brothers James and Isaac Davenport, offering a firsthand glimpse into the hardships, service, and sacrifices of the era — including connections to General George Washington and Valley Forge.

Bring the family, meet local historians and reenactors, and help commemorate America’s Semiquincentennial right here in Wellesley!

Wellesley Wonderful Weekend is almost here!!

Register & join us next Thursday 5/14 @ 7PM for an adults-only event to decorate our iconic red wagon WMF float for the town parade. There will be beverages, pizza, and plenty of good laughs ❤️🍕

& if you’re looking to WOW your kiddos with riding on the float this year during the parade please register to join us Sunday 5/17. The parade starts promptly at 1PM so if you want to start from the beginning or ride in the float please arrive at 12:45PM. Strollers/wagons/walkers all welcome! We can’t wait to see you all there in your red/white ❤️

Official kick-off of Wellesley Wonderful Weekend --

Don't miss ‘Voices and Songs of Liberty‘ -- A Patriotic Concert Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of America -- Thursday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street.

Concert performance by Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, Wellesley Town Band and the Wellesley Choral Society. And, special Guest Soloist — American Idol Finalist Ayla Brown.

Dramatic readings, words by 18th-century patriot leaders with close ties to Boston — Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, and Abigail Adams.
