Ditch that kitchen sponge!
Researchers at Duke University have reported that the innocent-looking kitchen sponge is better at growing bacteria than a laboratory petri dish. Sponges typically contain about 10 million bacteria per square inch. For reference, this is about 200,000 times more germs than those found on your toilet seat.
