That's a wrap! The Leadership Institute of North Central Washington graduated an outstanding cohort of community leaders last week. A huge shout out to Community Foundation of NCW, Thriving Together NCW, Columbia Basin Foundation, National Parent Leadership Institute, and DOZENS of other community partners and volunteers who make this initiative possible. Sage Step supported the recruitment, logistics, and facilitation of this incredible initiative for the 2025/2026 cohort. It takes a village, and we are that village!

Thanks to our partnership with Thriving Together NCW, we had the chance to support the City of Omak and Okanogan County with this important conversation.

Everyone has an idea for how to fix homelessness, mental health, and substance use. Some say more enforcement. Others say more services. Some want both. Some want neither.

When people are frustrated, it’s easy to point fingers at agencies. But these challenges are like trying to navigate a maze where the walls keep shifting—and everyone has a different map.

We’ve been working hard — referrals, cleanups, enforcement, and programs like Team ONE — but these problems are bigger than any one department or agency.
