This was a challenge. Customer came in with an idea to transform this 5 1/2 ft table into a 9 ft table and had a budget. They gave me 2 pieces of wood cut for potential leaves along with a leaf they found. We trimmed and routered the edges to look like the original table edge, glued the 3 pieces together to form 1 large leaf, made new skirts to match the original table skirts (that was the toughest part), then stained and finished. The customer knew the other wood they provided would look different then the rest of the table but wanted them anyway. I think it turned out pretty nice.
