You can easily make DIY "pupsicles" or kitty treats by freezing wet pet food or low-sodium broth inside a durable chew toy. It provides mental stimulation and helps lower their core body temperature on hot days. Reach out to Prospect Ridge Veterinary at 9737367810 for more nutritious recipe ideas.

It has been incredibly hot here, and we want to make sure you and your pets are staying as cool as possible. Heat stroke in our pets is a life threatening emergency. Limit the time spent outdoors and keep hydrated. For cats that spend time indoors and outdoors, in your home is always the place to be and right now even more-so. The ground is hot enough to cause burns on your pet’s paws, if you place the back of your hand on the asphalt and it is too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for your pet’s feet (but we don’t recommend you do this - it’s way too hot!). Try to keep your walks short and on grass or on the shady side of the street. Early morning and late evening are best chances of the coolest weather until this heat wave breaks. Please do not ever leave your pets in the car in this weathers. If you think your pet is showing signs of heat stroke, come to the hospital or seek care at your nearest emergency hospital.
