If you're producing a bulk order of shirts for your customer, you're probably going to want to have them screen printed. Not only will this method turn out to be more cost effective, it also ensures that the print will stay on longer.
Did you know that "expanding ink" is a common screen printing material? Also known as "puff," expanding ink is a plastisol additive that raises the print off the fabric, creating a plush, three-dimensional effect. It is mostly used on apparel.
Often a four-color process is used in screen printing, using shades of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black to print the desired design (much like an ink jet printer). This approach is best for light fabrics, as the color of the material can interfere with the mixing of the ink.
While digital printing can produce good results, it certainly can't match the quality of screen prints. This is because screen printing uses thicker, more durable inks that produce vibrant colors on either light or dark backgrounds.
