Atwood Fire Extinguishers

NFPA 10 states that dry chemical fire extinguishers (aka the standard ABC type most people have) shall not be installed for the protection of delicate electronic equipment. (Reference: NFPA 10 5.5.6.1 2013 Edition)

Instead, a clean agent extinguisher, such as this Halotron type extinguisher should be installed. We recommend them near server racks or other sensitive electronics.

NFPA 10 dictates how high you can mount a fire extinguisher.

If it weighs 40 lbs. or less, the top of the extinguisher must be less than 5 feet from the finished floor. The bottom must be at least 4 inches above the floor.

If it's greater than 40 lbs., the top of the extinguisher must be less than 3.5 feet and the bottom still must be at least 4 inches above the floor.

NFPA 10 states that fire extinguishers need to have maintenance performed annually by a trained and certified technician.
