A few months later, posts began forming across the United States as the organization officially took shape — eventually leading to local posts like Post 207 in West Springfield, MA

JUNE 4 — THIS DAY IN MILITARY HISTORY
On June 4, 1942, the Battle of Midway began — one of the most decisive victories in U.S. naval history.
American pilots and sailors turned the tide of the Pacific War, sinking four Japanese carriers and shifting momentum to the Allied side.

On this day in 1944, the U.S. Navy also captured the German submarine U‑505, marking the first capture of an enemy vessel at sea since the 1800s.

Today, Post 207 honors the bravery, sacrifice, and grit of all who served in these pivotal moments.

We remember. We honor. We never forget.
