A couple of months or so ago, I acquired the majority of an elderly man’s 40-year collection of silver-plated flatware. A ridiculous amount in fact, must be at least 500 lbs here. I’ve polished a lot and put it in my space at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall. It continues to sell very well for me, rather my “bread and butter” so to speak. This is an amazingly organized collection and I put it all in about 100 zip-loc bags. Each bag is a pattern of it’s own, some mixed. Some of this dates back to the late 19th century and the rest is 20th century, the teens, 20s, 30s, 40s make up the bulk of it.
I won’t live long enough to polish and sell it all or I may lose interest eventually in having a booth in an antique mall. I do not want to die one day with all this in my possession!
I’ve a gentleman coming tomorrow (Thursday 10/19) who is a collector of silver plated flatware himself. He wants to see what I have and perhaps he will buy some of this in its currently tarnished condition. I’ve taken all this out of my storage shed and put it out where it can be easily seen. There are several full/partial sets in chests here as well.
The main reason I am posting this is to find out if anyone who might see this is the artsy type who makes jewelry, wind chimes, wall hooks, etc out of flatware? Or do you know someone who does this?? I’m all about selling this stuff “as is” to anyone who might be interested. I bought it very cheaply and will sell it cheaply in its unpolished condition.
There is no sign of rain in the forecast for at least another week and I have no qualms about leaving this stuff out for several days should anyone be interested. It’s at my home in Brighton, CO.
