Today marks a new chapter at Seniors Resource Center. Our first under the leadership of President & CEO Chandra Matthews. And as Chandra reminds us, the next chapter starts with people. ๐ŸŒฟ

Ask Chandra how she found this work, and she'll tell you it started at home.

"I grew up surrounded by both sets of grandparents and even some great-grandparents," she shares. "They helped shape who I am. They taught me what is needed to age with dignity, and they taught me what it means to be a caregiver." Those lessons shaped her career and drew her to SRC, which she says has felt like the place she was meant to be since the moment she arrived.

What Chandra has come to understand about SRC is that its strength lives in its people. When you invest in a team and give them the support and culture to do their best, that investment is felt directly by the people they serve. A caregiver finally getting a few hours to breathe, or an older adult finding community and purpose through our programs.

"This is the work," Chandra says, "and it continues because of people like you who believe it matters."

Welcome, Chandra. We're so glad you're leading the way. ๐Ÿ’™

Yesterday we celebrated Jefferson County's 2026 Senior Heroes! ๐Ÿ†

This annual event, co-presented by Seniors Resource Center and Jefferson County Council on Aging and hosted by Lutheran Medical Center, honors older adult volunteers who make a meaningful impact throughout our community.

We were proud to welcome Jefferson County Commissioner Rachel Zenzinger and Golden Mayor Laura Weinberg to the celebration. A special thank you to Cary Johnson, who served as our emcee, and congratulations to all of our 2026 Senior Heroes honorees, including former Jeffco District Attorney Scott Storey, a former longtime SRC board member.

It was also a milestone moment as our new CEO Chandra Matthews Jergenson delivered her first public address. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, to those who nominated these incredible volunteers, and to Lutheran Medical Center for opening their doors to this community celebration.

Know an older adult making a difference in Jefferson County? Stay tuned for 2027 nominations!

What an incredible day! ๐Ÿ’™ Our team was out at three community resource fairs today, and we came home with full hearts.

At the Denver Senior Expo hosted at JCC Denver , two moments stood out. A visitor stopped by to share how much our Chores Services have meant to her โ€” and we overheard a family caregiver telling another exhibitor how our Adult Day Program has been invaluable in helping her care for her husband. Stories like these remind us every single day why we do this work.

We also loved connecting with our Trishaw partner SelectHealth and the wonderful Kelly Hawthorne, who were tabling right across from us!

At the City of Englewood's Healthy Aging Expo 2026, the gym was absolutely packed โ€” such an energizing turnout from a community that truly cares for its older residents.

And at the VA's Annual Caregiver Resource Fair, we were honored to connect with the family members who show up every day for our veterans. You are seen and appreciated. ๐Ÿงก

Are you or someone you love navigating caregiving? We're here to help. Our Adult Day Program, Chores Services, In-Home Care, and Care Management Consultation can make a real difference for your family.
