We are looking forward to celebrating Epiphany with you tomorrow! We will be learning about Epiphany traditions from around the world, reading the story of La Befana, “chalking” the door to the sanctuary, and sharing Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings Cake) after service.

See you at 10am to celebrate!

As you and your family make holiday plans, we hope to see you at 4pm on Christmas Eve for Candelight Service, followed by Hot Chocolate fellowship time at Highlands.

And, know that there are lots of other options for Christmas Eve service with our partners at Holy Cross Lutheran!

2025 has been a year of Generosity for Highlands! Below, you can learn more about the eight organizations that have received support from our congregation this year.

$12,000 to Iglutheca (Pine Ridge, SD) in direct support for Lakota's experiencing homelessness and addiction

$7,500 to the BirdSeed Collective (Denver, CO) to support their Community Food Program

$7,000 to the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church(Louisville, CO) Refugee Resettlement Support. You can read about Ali Ahmadi and his family here, as CTS has worked to support his legal process and family as they resettle here in Colorado. In October, Ali was taken by ICE, despite his legally protected status and held in an ICE detention facility in Missouri for 50 days.

$5,000 to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Native American Services (Denver, CO) in support of their cultural programming for unhoused Native and Indigenous community members.

$4,000 to Young Adults in Global Mission - ELCA as missionary support for Micah Hobart. Link in the comments to read more about his experience.

$5,000 to Bienvenidos Food Bank (Denver, CO) as emergency funding due to disruptions in SNAP distributions.

$1,500 in direct support of an unhoused neighbor of ours in need of car repairs.

$500 to Holy Cross’ (and our!) Blessing Box/Free Little Pantry to purchase food during the disruptions to SNAP benefits

And we aren't done yet!

Email us at [email protected] for funding requests that fit into one of these categories: Migrant and Refugee Support Organizations, BIPOC Organizations, Housing Insecurity Organizations in the Denver Area, and LGBTQIA+ Organizations. We still have $60,780 available to give freely in 2026.

Individuals and organizations of any background can also submit an application for funding to the Endowment Committee at: https://www.highlandslutheran.org/pages/endowment-fund-grants--13

Our little free pantry outside of church and in partnership with Holy Cross Lutheran Church Wheat Ridge CO has needed to be refilled several times a day this past week. We are grateful for the many donations received to help feed our neighbors and are also in need of more donations this month as SNAP benefis continue to be effected.

If you are able to drop off donations at 4500 Wadsworth Blvd, Wheat Ridge, CO, we would be especially grateful. Our drop-off box is located on the side of the building off of W 45th Pl. next to the Highlands Lutheran sign/entrance. A photo of the black donation box is below. Any donations unable to be used for the Blessing Box will be donated to Bienvenidos Food Bank.

Helpful donations include:
- Tuna packets
- Crackers, snacks, and granola bars
- Soups
- Instant Mac n’ Cheese
- Instant Oatmeal
- and any other easy to make meals

In addition to helping to keep the Blessing Box full, Highlands has made an emergency donation of $5000 to Bienvenidos Food Bank, who we have a longtime partnership with and help feed our neighbors regularly.
