For Teacher Appreciation Day, our Port-au-Prince team took a breath.

They went to the pool. They laughed. They rested. And they were celebrated… because they deserve to be.

These are the people who make everything possible. They show up early. They stay late. They comfort kids who are hurting and solve problems no one ever sees. They keep classrooms running in one of the hardest places in the world to do this work.

When you sponsor a student, you’re not just changing one child’s life.

You’re creating a job for a teacher who needs it. You’re strengthening a family. You’re helping us build a team of 110 staff who show up every. single. day. because they believe something better is possible.

That belief ripples. Into classrooms. Into homes. Into a community that is generating change.

One sponsor. One child. One teacher. One ripple at a time.

The houses in these paintings may look small, but for many families in Haiti, they hold entire generations under one roof. Parents, children, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles often share tiny homes built from whatever materials are available. While the average American home is over 2,000 square feet, many Haitian families live in spaces only a fraction of that size.

The dirt paths our students paint are not imaginary either. They are the roads they walk every day to get to school, to church, to the market, and back home again. The rivers, greenery, mountains, and colorful scenes are what they know. What they love. What they see.

Children paint what is familiar to them.

That’s why art matters.

At Teach Haiti, art class is part of our Complete Education Model because creativity, imagination, and self-expression are just as important as academics. In many schools across Haiti, students may never even hold a paintbrush or crayon during their elementary years due to lack of resources. Here, our students are given the opportunity to create, explore, and tell their stories through art.
