It’s getting very dry out there. Whitney Fire/Rescue assisted our neighbors today with a large grass fire.
The call volume for grass fires are starting to pick up. Everyone please stay mindful of the current conditions if you are planning outside activities. Whether you plan to burn or just be outside. Stay hydrated.

Late post, was out of town, but I want to thank all the responders who were at the structure fire today on Choctaw. It was definitely hot out there and as always, they did an awesome job.

Earlier this evening while responding to a medical emergency, Whitney Fire/Rescue and Whitney EMS heard the sound of a not so friendly visitor under our patients porch. After providing care to the patient, Firefighter/Paramedic John Fussell, located the intruder.
Fussell attempted to retrieve a very upset rattlesnake very carefully, giving extra care not to injure himself or the snake. The snake proved to put up a good fight and for the safety of all involved, the snake had to be neutralized.
Thank you to all the responders who went the extra mile to make sure our patient and her family weren’t in any danger.
