One of my favorite parts of spending time with families during a session isn’t just getting to know them but feeling like I’m part of their family, even if it’s for the small amount of time I spend with them. But what’s more, is in every session, I gain or learn something profound that I take with me through my own life experiences.

Sometimes its a gentleness, a calm word or a touch mom brings to calm her children’s nervous system during a more lively session by the water. Or sometimes it’s a joke that flows and brings a deep belly laugh between dad and son, one I can share with my own kids.

There is this unfiltered stillness and happiness of just being in the moment with these families, moments that deserve to be preserved and remembered;
just as they are, just as they were.

And while each photo may not always show exactly how I felt or saw them in that moment, behind each frame, is a deep and profound happiness, a feeling of gratitude for these moments.
