I accidentally sized up to 27mm with jewelry I didn’t know was a dud size up. It didn’t hurt, but they got angry and painful. I washed them like usual with antibacterial soap, and over time they just adjusted to them. These jade tunnels are 27mm and very thick. We made it my dudes! Only 3mm left to go. 🎉

We are the freaks, the outcasts; but we do not bow our head to those that would see it fall off our shoulders in order to please their own beliefs. Beauty is what you make it, how you feel that you want to express outwardly. To us in the body modification community, the pain we go through to look this way is beautiful. The process, the results, the excitement. We want to love what we see in the mirror just as much as everyone else; and trying to achieve this in a different way compared to societal norms doesn’t make it wrong. It causes no harm, and in fact for some of us, me included, it has helped me heal, and to be more confident in myself.

Body mods are more than just pain, more than what others perceive. They are a work of art. It’s beauty in expression for those who wish to undergo changes to outwardly display what they feel on the inside. Through pain there is beauty, through biases of what we are comes acceptance of who we want to be. I will not be stifled because others tell me that I should, I will not feel ashamed when others try to tear down me and my resolve. I am me; I am darkness in the shadows of my mind, I am the light that shines from the depths of my illnesses and pain, and I am the one with a heart that most don’t understand.
