What are some risk factors for Cardiovascular Disease?

Risk factors for cardiovascular disease include high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, sleep disturbed breathing (e.g. sleep apnea, nasal congestion), overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use among others. While there are prescription medications or surgical treatments for all these risk factors, they are also largely controllable with lifestyle changes. I will leave it to other medical providers to speak about how smoking, diet, diabetes, obesity, etc. relate to CVD.
