Great community of people who are going through life together.

Last Sunday, we considered the introduction of Paul’s address on Mars Hill. The Apostle Paul was invited to speak in a thoroughly pagan setting. As we began to see, he handled the opportunity differently that when he spoke in the synagogues.

This Sunday, we will finish Acts 18. In this passage, Paul set forth his defense for the one True God in contrast to the polytheism that was so prevalent in Athens. Since there are many similarities between the intellectual climate of the Athenians and our present culture, Paul’s strategy on Mars Hill is be very instructive and useful to us. Pray that I can make it clear.

We will also be celebrating the Lord’s Table this Sunday, thanking God for the ways He has lavished His love on us to make us His children. I hope to see you at 11:00am!

We learned last week that when Paul’s life was in danger in the city of Berea, he was sent ahead of the rest of the team to Athens. But Paul didn’t just sit around and wait for the others to arrive. He went to the synagogue, as was his custom, and reasoned with the Jews there.

Paul also interacted with the philosophers in Athens and was even invited to speak at the Areopagus. This Sunday we will consider the introduction of Paul’s message on the hill of Ares, or, as it is often called, Mars Hill. We are sure to find a number of truths to ponder and examples to follow. I hope to see you this Sunday at 11:00am!
And Happy Mothers Day!

This Sunday we will return to The Acts of the Apostles. We will be considering the conversion of Lydia as recorded in Acts 16. Lydia was a woman who prayed to God and worshiped God but still needed to hear and believe the good news about Jesus.

We will be celebrating the Lord’s Table this Sunday as well. So, as we gather this Sunday, we will share the good news in song, in Scripture, and in symbol. I hope to see you at 11:00am!
