Obey The King
The King in His Power

Matthew 17:24-27
24 When they arrived at Capernaum, the tax men came to Peter and asked, "Does your teacher pay taxes?"
25 Peter said, "Of course." But as soon as they were in the house, Jesus confronted him. "Simon, what do you think? When a king levies taxes, who pays - his children or his subjects?"
26 He answered, “His subjects.” Jesus said, “Then the children get off free, right?
27 But so we don't upset them needlessly, go down to the lake, cast a hook, and pull in the first fish that bites. Open its mouth and you'll find a coin. Take it and give it to the tax men. It will be enough for both of us."

1.Jesus affirmed His kingship by controlling a coin and a fish.
2.But He affirmed His servanthood by submitting to their demands.
3.Lest we offend them is a good principle when you lay aside your rights.
4.But be careful not to set aside God’s truth.
5.Matthew 15:12–14....
12 Then the followers came to Jesus and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees are upset about what you said?”
13 Jesus answered, “Every plant that my Father in heaven has not planted will be pulled up by the roots.
14 Stay away from the Pharisees. They lead the people, but they are like blind men leading other blind men. And if a blind man leads another blind man, both of them will fall into a ditch.
6.Peter had faith in God’s Word.
7.And God honored that faith.
8.If we trust the King.
9.He will meet our needs as we obey His Word.

Throw Your Net Into The Water
On The Right Side Of Your Boat.

John 21:1–8
1 Later, Jesus appeared again to his followers by Lake Galilee. This is how it happened:
2 Some of the followers were together—Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two other followers.
3 Simon Peter said, “I am going out to fish.”
The other followers said, “We will go with you.” So all of them went out and got into the boat. They fished that night but caught nothing.
4 Early the next morning Jesus stood on the shore. But the followers did not know it was Jesus.
5 Then he said to them, “Friends, have you caught any fish?”
They answered, “No.”
6 He said, “Throw your net into the water on the right side of your boat. You will find some fish there.” So they did this. They caught so many fish that they could not pull the net back into the boat.
7 The follower Jesus loved very much said to Peter, “That man is the Lord!” When Peter heard him say it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself. (He had taken his clothes off to work.) Then he jumped into the water.
8 The other followers went to shore in the boat. They pulled the net full of fish. They were not very far from shore, only about 100 yards.

1.A direct command from Jesus...highlighting His authority and knowledge.
2.Jesus appears to His disciples after His resurrection.
3.Demonstrating His continued guidance and presence.
4.This command echoes His earlier interactions with the disciples.
5.Where He often provided direction.
6.And insight beyond human understanding.
7.The "right side" is significant.
8.The right side often represents favor and blessing.
9.This directive challenges the disciples' previous efforts.
10.Which were fruitless.
11.And suggests a divine strategy that contrasts with human effort.
12.The specificity of the "right side" may also imply a test of obedience and faith.
13.As the disciples had to trust Jesus' word over their own experience.

They Mixed With Foreigners,Wasting Their Substance
Ephraim is a cake not turned." Hosea 7:8

Hosea 7:8-16 (GW)
8 “Ephraim mixes with other nations. Ephraim, you are like a half-baked loaf of bread.
9 Foreigners are using up your strength, but you don't realize it. You have become a gray-haired, old man, but you don't realize it.
10 Israel, your arrogance testifies against you, but even after all this, you don't turn to the LORD your God or look to him for help.
11 Ephraim, you are like a silly, senseless dove. You call for Egypt and run to Assyria for help.
12 When you go, I will spread my net over you. I will sn**ch you out of the air like a bird. I will punish you for all the evil things you have done.
13 “How horrible it will be for these people. They have run away from me. They must be destroyed because they've rebelled against me. I want to reclaim them, but they tell lies about me.
14 They don't pray to me sincerely, even though they cry in their beds and make cuts on their bodies while praying for grain and new wine. They have turned against me.
15 I trained them and made them strong. Yet, they plan evil against me.
16 They don't return to the Most High. They are like a defective bow. Their officials will die in battle because they curse. The people in Egypt will ridicule them for this.

1.The corruption of Ephraim was great.
2.Including fraud, robbery, lies, wicked deeds, adultery, and drunkenness.
3.The people and the royal princes were inflamed with lustful passions.
4.A cake Not turned is uncooked on one side.
5.And so Ephraim was...in many respects...untouched by divine grace.
6.Though there was some partial obedience.
7.There was very much rebellion left.
8.The cake which is burned on one side.
9.Is dough on the other.
10.If it be so with me, O Lord, turn me!
11.Turn my unsanctified nature to the fire of Thy love.
12.And let it feel the sacred glow.
13.And let my burnt side cool a little while.
14.I learn my own weakness and want of heat.
15.When I am removed from Thy heavenly flame.
