Kernstown Battlefield

We had 19 teams or about 76 golfers spend a great and warm morning to support the Kernstown Battlefield Association. We want to thank KBA Board member George Mangano for organizing this great event. We also want to thank our Event Sponsors Chris & Melissa Ferguson, Wells Fargo Advisors, and Timber Works. Our lunch sponsors were Kit Molden from Merrifield Realty and Bank of Clarke. The event was held at the Rock Harbor Golf Course in Wi******er. Thanks also to the numerous hole sponsors.

28th Virginia, Company D will be having a living history camp set up this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th on the Kernstown Battlefield. Bring the family and come see military drills, musket firing demonstrations, and talk to the reenactors as to how Civil War soldiers lived in their camps. The battlefield hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The Kernstown Battlefield Association does much more than give great tours of our Civil War battlefield and 1854 Pritchard House. We have also partnered with the local American Audubon Society as part of a conservation effort to bring back the American Kestrel, providing habitat and monitoring their progress. Here we have a Kestrel incubating 5 eggs in one of the boxes and in another one there are 5 chicks.

A lot of great events this weekend in the Wi******er area celebrating Civil War Weekend. Don't forget to make one of your stops the Kernstown Battlefield on Saturday, May 9th starting at 11:30 am to hear presentations by KBA Board members and Docents Larry Turner and Susi Weston who will be presenting on Civil War Artillery & Ordnance and Civil War Surgery and Medicine, respectively.
