For the month of January, we will be spotlighting our Silica Training Course. This course focuses on hazards associated with silica dust such as but not limited to the new OSHA standard, what silica is and where is can be located through the jobsite, activities that can result in the exposure of silica, health effects, exposure routes, basic worker control measures to prevent silica exposure, what to do if you suspect silica exposure on a jobsite, Duties of the competent person, proper use of equipment, protective clothing, and appropriate hygiene practices, the use of Table 1 and the purpose and description of the medical surveillance program.

The Silica Awareness Training includes a PowerPoint presentation, classroom instruction (training time shall not exceed two and a half (2½) hours) and an exam.

An executive order has been put out by the White House stating that OSHA is developing a new rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure that their workforce is either fully vaccinated or tested weekly.

A second executive order was put out that any contractor that do business with the federal government will be required to be vaccinated.
