BARROW COUNTY OFFICES TO CLOSE FOR WINTER WEATHER

Barrow County Government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 26 due to the ongoing hazardous travel conditions in the area.

This includes Barrow County’s administrative offices, courts, senior center, animal shelter and facilities at Victor Lord Park.

“As citizens continue to see freezing rain, sleet and ice in our area, we encourage them to sign up for emergency alerts, ensuring they receive timely and accurate information,” said Sharon Courson, Barrow County Emergency Management Director. “Citizens are also encouraged to utilize a weather radio, providing another key lifeline to important weather information during this storm, which could bring prolonged power outages to our area.”

During the weather event, essential public safety and public works personnel will remain on duty. Citizens reporting non-life-threatening emergencies, such as downed trees or power lines, should call non-emergency lines at any of the following phone numbers:

• 678-219-0164
• 470-891-2726
• 470-891-2981

As always, life threatening emergencies such as house fires, injury or other imminent danger should be reported via 911.

Unless otherwise noted, Barrow County will resume normal operations Tuesday, Jan. 27.
