The work our students do is not hypothetical. They are solving real design problems for actual community spaces, presenting to real stakeholders, and seeing their ideas taken seriously. They're doing real work.

Last month, our Board Chair Lauren spoke at Stitch Design Shop's "Designing What's Next" event. She brought two people with her: Kate, a former LbD participant who interned with CDS last summer and is now studying design at Virginia Tech, and Prea, a high schooler who came through LbD and is already thinking seriously about a future in design.

One of the organizers wrote to us afterward: "We left feeling inspired and refreshed after hearing more about Community Design Studio, the impact the students made, and their dreams to create an even greater impact through design in the future."

That room full of handwritten thank-yous means a lot to us.
