In a recent op-ed for Mongabay.com, Professor John Knox writes about a major step forward for environmental justice in Southeast Asia.

The 11 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations recently adopted a Declaration on the Right to a Safe, Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment, an important commitment for the 680 million people who call the region home.

But as Professor Knox explains, the next step is the most important: implementation. With communities across Southeast Asia facing serious environmental challenges, he argues that governments must do more to protect the rights of those on the frontlines.
