This 500-year-old canoe from the Florida Museum of Natural History’s collection was found in Florahome; Fla. Carved from a single pine tree; the canoe measures 18 feet; 8 inches long; 15 inches wide and 15 inches tall. This canoe is part of the “Dugout Canoes: Paddling through the Americas” exhibit; on display at the Florida Museum in Gainesville; Fla. The Florida Museum plans to display “Dugout Canoes” until November 2013 when the exhibit begins its national traveling tour.Florida Museum of Natural History photo by Jeff Gage
