Louis just celebrated his 11th birthday. My super star Nephew! What louis has gone through from heart operations at a very early age , ear operations to just being a kid and a kid with down syndrome, making him the boy he is today! The support from his family to not just louis but the whole Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida (DSACF) community is truly astonishing and inspiring.

It’s that time of year my friends the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida (DSACF) annual walk fundraiser has arrived.

Our family’s journey with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida (DSACF) has spanned over a decade, and in that time, it has become so much more than just an organization to us—it’s become a second family. What started as a resource to help us better understand and support Louis has blossomed into a central part of our lives, offering friendship, guidance, and a deep sense of belonging.

From the very beginning, DSACF has provided us with opportunities that go far beyond events and activities. Their programs have created meaningful spaces where Louis has been able to grow, connect, and shine. Whether it's social events, workshops, or community gatherings, these moments have allowed him to develop his social skills, confidence, and independence. For us as parents, these events have also served as a crucial lifeline—connecting us with other families walking similar paths, sharing stories, encouragement, and understanding that only comes from shared experience.

My involvement with DADS (Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome) has been especially powerful. Within that circle, I found more than just fellow fathers—I found true camaraderie, practical advice, and emotional support from others who genuinely understand the unique joys and challenges of raising a child with Down syndrome. These relationships have helped shape not only the kind of father I am, but also the strength of our entire family.

Louis’s personal growth continues to be a testament to the impact of DSACF. He is now a passionate and committed participant in his Karate program, where he brings his full heart and energy to every session. It’s inspiring to see how much he has learned—not just about martial arts, but about dedication, perseverance, and what it means to believe in yourself.

One of the most cherished traditions we’ve built over the years has been our participation in the annual Step Up Walk. “Team Louis” has proudly taken part for the past 11 years, and each year it becomes more meaningful. It’s more than a walk—it’s a celebration of progress, a show of unity, and a day where we feel the full strength of our support network. Friends, neighbors, classmates, and extended family come together in an outpouring of love and solidarity.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Team Louis has consistently ranked among the top fundraising teams. These donations do more than just meet a goal—they fuel the mission of DSACF, helping provide essential programs, educational resources, and inclusive events that benefit not just Louis, but countless other individuals with Down syndrome and their families across Central Florida.

Your support, through donations, makes a real and lasting impact. Every dollar raised contributes directly to helping individuals with Down syndrome thrive and reach their fullest potential. It’s about creating a future filled with possibility, not just for Louis, but for so many others like him.
