I have been holding the stories of in*******al marriage compiled in this book close to my heart for several years. But I have learned that in order to honor and actually learn from the past, we must let the stories out into the world to tell their truth. And that is done through sharing and speaking our experiences in every way possible, including pictures and people’s own words. And you all will be the first to experience these unique and beautiful stories of in*******al marriage in their entirety.

My hope is that “The 50 Project” recognizes the trailblazing people of the past through these stories of in*******al couples today—couples who chose to take on the challenge of loving another person in a historically combative space. These daring couples exist in our communities and in our families. They have much to offer and much to say. When you take time to read these modern day love stories and appreciate their photos, know that you also take time to listen to the voices of the past who paved the way.
