On this Memorial Day, my family is honoring those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have.

I love having guests of all stages of life- one consistency I see- is their reaction when their changes. Here's some whys-
Your hair used to be straight and now it’s wavy. Or it was curly and now it’s limp. Or it changed after pregnancy and never went back.
You’re not imagining it — and there’s a biological reason.
Hair texture is primarily determined by the shape of your hair follicle. A straight follicle produces round strands — straight hair. A curved follicle produces oval strands — curls. But your follicle isn’t fixed. It’s a living structure surrounded by collagen and connective tissue that changes over time.
When that environment shifts — from hormones, aging, medications, or medical events — the follicle can physically change shape. And when that shape changes, every strand it produces changes with it.
Puberty. Pregnancy. Postpartum. Menopause. Thyroid shifts. Chemotherapy. Each can alter your follicle’s output. Some changes are temporary. Some are permanent. All are biological.
Want to know your current texture? Look at the first 1–2 inches from your scalp. That’s what your follicle is producing right now.
