Adhikaar Senior Staff Tsering Lama recently participated in the panel, “Practical Strategies for Collaborating with Community Organizations in Legal Advocacy,” sharing the importance of centering community voices in legal education and advocacy partnerships. The discussion highlighted the need for accessible language, transparency, meaningful opportunities for community members to ask questions, and ensuring that those most impacted retain decision-making power over issues that affect their lives.
Thank you to Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) for creating this important space for dialogue and learning, and to fellow panelists Khamarin Nhann (Mekong NYC) and Debbie Wei (Asian Americans United) for the thoughtful discussion. We are honored to share Adhikaar’s experiences and remain committed to building collective power through community-led advocacy.

हालै AALDEF द्वारा आयोजित “Practical Strategies for Collaborating with Community Organizations in Legal Advocacy” विषयक प्यानल छलफलमा सहभागी भई कानुनी शिक्षा र पैरवीका काममा समुदायको आवाजलाई केन्द्रमा राख्नुपर्ने महत्त्वबारे अनुभव साझा गरियो। छलफलमा सरल भाषा, पारदर्शिता, समुदायका सदस्यहरूलाई प्रश्न सोध्ने अवसर, तथा प्रभावित व्यक्तिहरूले आफ्ना जीवनसँग सम्बन्धित निर्णयहरूमा आफ्नो भूमिका कायम राख्नुपर्ने विषयमा जोड दिइयो।

Today, on International Domestic Workers Day, we celebrate the labor, care, and contributions of over 75 million domestic workers worldwide.
Fifteen years after the adoption of ILO Convention 189, we honor the workers and organizers—including Adhikaar’s former Executive Director Luna Ranjit—who helped advance global standards and protections for domestic workers.
From local campaigns to global movements, we continue the fight for dignity, fair wages, job security, and social protection for all domestic workers.
