I am frequently asked if I can put a gps tracker on someones’s vehicle. The short answer is no. But, here is what the MA General Laws say: if the tracker is going on the vehicle owned by the requestor then yes. In other words, if one spouse thinks the other is going somewhere they shouldn’t be going and they co-own the vehicle then yes. If asked to put it on a vehicle not owned by the person asking, then a definite no. Parents often are concerned where their new drivers in the family are going and a tracker is useful. Google often lists businesses as “Open 24 hours.” That is a default setting. I can tell you now, if you call Lyons Investigations at 2:00 a.m. like last night nobody is going to answer your call. Usually the call is placed by someone under the influence that barely makes sense. There is nothing anyone can do for you in the middle of the night so just wait until the next day to call when clearer heads prevail. Thank you.
